GM survey: Warriors' Thompson named second best SG

Klay Thompson enjoyed his most successful season for the Warriors last season in a multitude of ways, but as the younger Splash Brother, he's used to playing second fiddle.

That trend continued on Tuesday when the NBA.com's annual GM survey was released

When GMs were asked who the best shooting guard in the NBA is, Thompson once again found himself as the No. 2 option. Thompson received 10.3 perecent of the votes, while James Harden of the Houston Rockets beat him out by a large margin, with 79.3 percent of recognition.

In his fourth-year in the NBA, the sharp-shooter averaged 21.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He also burried 43.9 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Both his points per game and lethal perentage from downtown led to his first All-Star Game appearance.

Harden finished second to the Warriors' Stephen Curry in MVP voting last season by putting together a season of 27.4 points, 7 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game.

Thompson's pure shooting ability was also noticed by GMs, but again not as the top dog.

He finished third as the NBA's best pure shooter with 6.9 percent of the votes, while Curry was the leading vote getter at 79.3 percent and the Hawks' Kyle Korver received the second-most amount of votes with 10.3 percent. Curry shot 44.3 percent beyond the arc, and Korver drained 49.2 percent of his 3-point shots.

To top it off, Thompson was voted one spot behind Korver as the best player in the NBA at moving without the ball. Korver gained 69 percent of votes and Thompson had 13.8 percent.

Notably, Curry received votes as the league's best shooting guard despite being the leading man for best point guard in the NBA.
