Dwight Howard: "I will remember this game. I will remember that shot." (USA TODAY IMAGES)

Was David Lee's elbow to Dwight Howard's face on Monday night worthy of future retaliation?

Dwight Howard thinks so.

Lee was in the middle of a minor dustup with Metta World Peace (see video above) first, then later he found Howard's ire when the Warriors' power forward led with his elbow as he drove to the basket -- by way of Howard's lip (which needed three stitches after the collision).

Howard told Yahoo! sports:

“He got away with a shot. I will remember this game. I will remember that shot. He said he wasn't trying to do it. You can look at the play and see it for yourself. I will take care of it later.”

Initially, Lee said he was trying to go strong to the basket with the idea he was going to face an attempted block of his shot, but that block attempt never came. Instead, it was simply a sharp left elbow to Dwight Howard's mouth.

David Lee responded to Howard's veiled threat at Warriors practice in Oakland Tuesday morning:

"Like I said, not an intentional play so, I can't really worry too much about it. I'm out there trying to make contact with a shot blocker so I don't get my shot thrown into the fifth row, and an elbow got out of control a little bit there and it wasn't intentional."

We'll see if Howard does "take care of it later" on April 12, when the Warriors face the Lakers at Staples Center, broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. Coverage begins at 7 p.m. with Warriors Pregame Live.
