Warriors interim coach Luke Walton made the announcement during his pregame news conference.
“He was a little stiff at shootaround this morning, and he was getting some treatment afterward,” Walton said of Thompson. “We were going to see if loosened up throughout the day, but they just told me it hasn’t.”

No decision about a replacement in the starting lineup was made, Walton said, at the time his announcement. The coaching staff convened afterward, at which time a decision would be made.

“We are working on the answer,” Walton said when asked who would start.
One typical candidate, veteran Leandro Barbosa, is away in Brazil attending to a family matter. The Warriors likely would choose among Brandon Rush, Shaun Livingston and Ian Clark.
Thompson’s back has been an ongoing issue. He played through it earlier this month and told CSNBayArea.com last week that he was feeling much better prior to this latest setback.
