Report: NBA cancels games through Dec. 15

Dei LynamCSNPhilly.com
It may be stating the obvious but late Tuesday afternoon the NBA informed its teams that they have officially canceled all games through December 15. Previously, Commissioner David Stern had canceled games through the month of November. The commissioner had also instructed that a months time is necessary upon reaching an agreement between the players and owners to get free agents signed, training camp in and a couple exhibition contests.

Expect the cancellation of games to continue through 2011.

On Monday the union elected to disclaim itself in the first step toward filing an antitrust lawsuit against the owners. That suit is expected to be filed tomorrow.

Today was supposed to be payday for the players.

Report: Warriors GM Bob Myers was Lakers' No. 1 target

On Tuesday morning, the Lakers made sweeping changes to their front office.

Magic Johnson is now the president of basketball operations and both general manager Mitch Kupchak and executive VP of basketball operations Jim Buss were fired.

Los Angeles -- looking to hire a new GM -- originally targeted Warriors GM Bob Myers, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

But as Wojnarowski reports: "After Myers signed a recent contract extension, it became clear to Lakers brass that it would be unable to lure Myers."

In September, the Warriors promoted Myers from general manager to president of basketball operations/general manager.

Myers was named the NBA Executive of the Year following the 2014-15 season.

After playing in D-League All-Star Game, Briante Weber recalled to Warriors

The Warriors recalled guard Brianté Weber from the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBA Development League, the team announced today.

Weber was assigned to Santa Cruz to allow him to participate in the 2017 NBA D-League All-Star Game on Saturday in New Orleans, where he tallied four points, two assists and two steals in 16 minutes for the West squad.

Weber, who signed his second 10-day contract with the Warriors on Feb. 14, has appeared in five games with Golden State this season, averaging 1.6 points and 1.0 assist in 8.2 minutes.

Prior to joining Golden State, the 6’2”, 165-pound guard appeared in 31 games (all starts) this season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA D-League, averaging 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 3.26 steals in 36.8 minutes and garnering NBA D-League Player of the Month honors in January.
