Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra is shuffling the deck in terms of his assistant coaches, after things changed fairly significantly once the game’s best player decided to leave in free agency.
Some older, trusted names are gone in favor of some new voices — one of which will be the recently-retired Juwan Howard taking a more prominent role — and it appears as though Spoelstra isn’t finished adding additional talent to his staff in advance of the coming season.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Keith Smart is a 'strong candidate' to join the Heat's new coaching staff.
Smart has plenty of previous coaching experience in the NBA having spent eight years (2003-2011) on the staff of the Golden State Warriors including one season as head coach. Smart was also head coach for two seasons with the Sacramento Kings.
