Last Friday, Matt Steinmetz said the Warriors need someone other than Stephen Curry or David Lee to step up, saying the most likely candidate was sophomore shooting guard Klay Thompson.

Thompson responded in kind Monday, turning in an efficient night to join Curry and Lee as the only three Warriors with 20-plus points in the win over the Raptors.

In under 28 minutes, Thompson recorded 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting, including four of five three-point attempts. But it wasn't his overall stat line that answered Steinmetz's call-out. It was his winning play to start the fourth quarter.

The Warriors trailed the Raptors 90-83 at home before Thompson began the final quarter with a deep two, a three, an assist to David Lee and another three-pointer. His eight-point, one-assist flurry erased the deficit and gave Golden State the lead.

For the season, Thompson is averaging 16.4 points and 35.4 minutes per game. But in the five games prior to Steinmetz's comments, the 23-year-old averaged 10.8 points on 24-for-73 (.325) shooting while converting just five of 25 attempted three pointers (.200). Since then, the Thompson has scored 29 and 22 points on an impressive 19-for-29 (.655) from the floor, including 11-for-17 (.647) from beyond the arc.

Is this Klay Thompson stepping up? Is he the player Matt Steinmetz was talking about??
