YSTL: When will Ezeli and O'Neal be back in uniform?
Programming note: Coverage of Warriors-Thunder begins Friday at 6:00 p.m. with Warriors Pregame Live on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area
Warriors general manager Bob Myers joined Jim Kozimor on Wednesday's edition of Yahoo! SportsTalk Live to discuss several topics, one of which centered around injured big men Festus Ezeli and Jermaine O'Neal.
When asked if he expects both players to help the Warriors this season, Myers sounded optimistic.
"We believe so," the Warriors' GM stated. "We think we'll get both of them back before the end of the season."
But when will they be back?
"I think Jermaine is a little closer than Festus," Myers said. "I think with Festus, the doctors originally told us after surgery it was a six to nine months recovery. I think nine months will be sometime in March.
"Jermaine is hopefully 2-3 weeks away."
Ezeli is recovering from offseason knee surgery and has yet to suit up. He appeared in 78 games last season (41 starts) and averaged 2.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game. He also appeared in all 12 postseason games.
O'Neal underwent surgery on his right wrist on Dec. 13 and hasn't played since Dec. 9.
In 17 games this season he is averaging 6.2 points and 4.5 rebounds in 18.6 minutes per game.
Are you counting on Ezeli and O'Neal to be significant contributors this season? Which player could the Warriors use more?
