49ers' Boldin, Hyde inactive vs Rams

ST. LOUIS – The 49ers’ top running back and wide receiver are inactive for Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams, leaving quarterback Colin Kaepernick with a depleted supporting cast of skill players.

Anquan Boldin was added to the 49ers’ inactive list on Sunday morning, as he was ruled out of the game with a hamstring strain. Carlos Hyde remained in the Bay Area to rehab the stress fracture in his left foot.

Boldin leads the 49ers with 31 receptions for 372 yards and two touchdowns. Hyde is the 49ers’ top ground gainer with 470 yards and three touchdowns on 115 rushing attempts.

Reggie Bush, Mike Davis and Kendall Gaskins are available for the 49ers at running back. Gaskins was promoted from the practice squad on Saturday, as the 49ers waived Jarryd Hayne.

Wide receiver Jerome Simpson is set to make his 49ers and should see significant action with Boldin’s absence. Torrey Smith, Quinton Patton and Bruce Ellington are the 49ers’ other active wide receivers.

Simpson, who recently concluded serving a six-game suspension for violations of the league’s substance-abuse policy, received a one-game roster exemption last week. He was activated to the 49ers’ 53-man roster last Friday.
