SANTA CLARA -- Defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey sustained a season-ending knee injury on the 49ers’ first defensive snap of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, the team confirmed on Monday.

Dorsey underwent an MRI examination at Stanford Hospital. The examination confirmed Dorsey suffered a torn ACL in his right knee. He is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the damage.

Dorsey was injured in the first quarter when his knee buckled as he was engaged with Seahawks right tackle Garry Gilliam on a running play.

Dorsey was carted off the field and was seen leaving the 49ers' locker room at CenturyLink Field with the help of crutches.

Dorsey, 30, is an eight-year professional who signed with the 49ers in 2013. He missed all of last season with a torn biceps.

Dorsey is signed through next season with a scheduled salary of $1.8 million. It is not known whether he will be available for the start of the 2016 season.
