SANTA CLARA -- Aldon Smith was back on the 49ers' practice field Friday afternoon, just hours after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of marajuana.
Bail was set at $5,250 and Smith was released from Santa Clara County jail on Friday after San Jose Police responded to a call of a single-vehicle accident. Smith crashed his vehicle into a tree, said San Jose Police Dept. Sgt. Heather Randol. He was not injured.
Smith was limited in practices Wednesday and Thursday due to a back condition. His status for the 49ers' game Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts remains unclear. Coach Jim Harbaugh is scheduled to hold a press conference after practice.
Last season, defensive lineman Demarcus Dobbs was arrested on suspicion of DUI and possession of marijuana on a Friday late in the season. He did not make the trip to St. Louis that day for the 49ers' game against the Rams.
Smith is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4 at 9 a.m. at Santa Clara County Superior Court, Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said.
