Chip Kelly: ‘I'm not going anywhere'

SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers are already paying former coach Jim Tomsula an average of $3.5 million a year through the 2018 season.

Chip Kelly, who signed a four-year contract worth an average of $6 million annually, figures to have at least a couple of seasons with the 49ers before his seat begins to warm.

But Kelly's name is also likely to be attached to any of the high-profile coaching vacancies in the college ranks. On Thursday, for the first time since becoming 49ers coach, Kelly was asked if he is fully committed to remaining with the 49ers beyond this season.

After joking that he might explore opportunities in the media, Kelly answered the question: “I’m not going anywhere.”
