Three and Out: Easing Crabtree back; Snyder for Iupati again
SANTA CLARA – Wide receiver Michael Crabtree made it through his second consecutive day of full practice on Thanksgiving Day and is likely to make his season debut on Sunday at Candlestick Park.
Crabtree, the 49ers’ leading receiver last season, is expected to be eased back into the action upon his return.
“I think that’s a fair statement in a general sense,” 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman said. “We’re not going to just throw him out there and have him play every play. It’s day-to-day, and see how he’s doing, see what he can handle, see what’s best.”
Crabtree was activated this week from the physically-unable-to-perform list. He will join veteran Anquan Boldin, who leads the 49ers this season with 52 receptions for 724 yards and five touchdowns.
Throughout this season, defenses have shown a startling lack of respect for the 49ers’ passing game with defenses designed to stop the run. The Crabtree-Boldin combination will give defenses a lot more challenges.
“At the root of it you got two guys who are very, very dependable receivers who came get open and catch the football,” Roman said. “Any time you can balance out the field, it’s a bonus. Bringing Michael Crabtree back adds value, any way you look at it.
“We got a guy on each side of the field that has a pedigree.”
Adam Snyder will make his second start at left guard in place of Mike Iupati, who will not play due to a left knee injury. And cornerback Tramaine Brock will get his second start, as Tarell Brown is out with a ribs injury.
