Eagles HC Pederson: ‘Not much separating' Goff, Wentz

Leading up to this year’s draft, the Eagles have spent plenty of time with the top quarterback prospects, including the consensus top two: North Dakota State's Carson Wentz and Cal's Jared Goff.

So, after working both of them out individually, how similar are they?

“These guys are pretty even, in my opinion,” said Pederson, who when asked, also added that they both have the potential to be franchise quarterbacks.

“From all the physical tools, both of them are extremely gifted there – good arm strength, good mobility. Obviously, Carson is a little bigger, maybe a little better athlete right now. There’s not much separating those two.”

Pederson and vice president of football operations Howie Roseman met with the media on Monday in advance of the draft, which begins a week from Thursday.

Pederson was very complimentary of Wentz, the quarterback from FCS program North Dakota State, saying he has all the tools despite playing at a smaller program.

“I like him,” Pederson said. “He’s got everything you want in a quarterback at this level. You never know. Quarterback is a unique position at the National Football League level. Guys come in here and there’s an expectation level that they have, there’s an expectation level that we have as a coaching staff. I like him, I like his arm strength, his mobility, he’s a bigger kid. I think he’s got all the tools to be an NFL quarterback.”
