SANTA CLARA -- He’s no longer a trusted agent, as Jim Harbaugh might say, but the 49ers coach had no problem with an upcoming opponent spending a little time in the team’s building.

While Tampa Bay Buccanners safety Dashon Goldson was serving a one-game suspension for an illegal helmet-to-helmet hit three weeks ago, he visited the 49ers practice facility, where he trained daily for the first six seasons of his NFL career.

Goldson and the Buccaneers are preparing to face the 49ers this week.

“I’d never seen that before, a player stop by like that,” Harbaugh said on Wednesday. “But it was cool. It was natural. People were glad to see him. He was glad to see guys. I had a chance to see him, give him a hug and talk for a little bit. It wasn’t a big deal.”

Harbaugh said there was never any thought about the potential of Goldson gaining valuable intelligence during his trip to the 49ers’ practice facility.

“That would be a natural reaction, but it just didn’t play out that way,” Harbaugh said.

Goldson said he was in the area to meet with his doctor and chiropractor when he decided to stop by the 49ers’ team offices and say hello to some old friends.

“It was cool seeing the guys,” Goldson said Wednesday in a conference call with Bay Area reporters.

Goldson, who signed a five-year, $41.25 million contract with Tampa Bay in the offseason, said he didn’t get the feeling many people in the building were suspicious of his presence.

“I didn’t feel that way, but you never know,” Goldson said. “I know somebody made a remark that was absurd.”

Goldson said he heard a someone say something when he entered a room. He said could not tell who said it.

The comment: “What are you doing, spying on us?”

Said Goldson, “I thought that was ridiculous.”
