SANTA CLARA – Team CEO Jed York has promoted Paraag Marathe to team president.
Gideon Yu stepped down as team president but will remain as co-owner.
Marathe completed his 13th season with the 49ers and his third in his role as chief operating officer. He is the 49ers’ chief contract negotiator and salary-cap manager.
He also runs the 49ers’ football analytics operation and is responsible for the club’s compliance with the salary cap. He works with general manager Trent Baalke on player personnel duties.
Marathe also runs the 49ers’ business operations, production, marketing, ticketing and suites and stadium operations. Marathe has spent considerable effort in the sales campaign for Levi’s Stadium, which opens next season.
In a statement on Twitter, Yu wrote, “Thanks to @JedYork for entrusting me to complete your stadium project. Looking (forward) to many more years together as 49ers’ co-owners.”
The 49ers later announced that Al Guido, who worked with the 49ers and the Santa Clara Stadium Authority in his previous role as the senior vice president of global sales for Legends, will join the 49ers and fill Marathe’s former role as COO.
“As we move closer to the opening of Levi’s Stadium, our organization will continue to evolve and grow,” York said in a statement. “Gideon, Paraag and Al have been instrumental in making the new stadium a reality, and I couldn’t be more excited about the future of our management team and the 49ers organization.
“Paraag and Al have developed a tremendous working relationship and I am deeply confident in their leadership."
