I’ve known him for three years, etc. How relevant is that if the decision you’re asking about is based on information and fact?

SANTA CLARA -– Defensive end Ray McDonald was not on the field for stretching and the early portion of warm-ups before emerging from a second-floor office to join his teammates for Wednesday’s practice.

Earlier Wednesday, coach Jim Harbaugh said no decision has been made about McDonald's availability for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. San Jose Police arrested McDonald early Sunday for felony domestic violence. He was released later that morning on $25,000 bail.

Wide receiver Michael Crabtree and right tackle Anthony Davis were not on the field at the beginning of practice.

Both players were working out in the team’s weight room.

The 49ers close practice to the media after warmup and individual drills. But the club must release a participation report to the NFL following practice that details the level of participation of players listed on the injury report.
