Cal-Hi Sports Bay Area
This past week was bittersweet for a number of athletes. As summer begins to creep up on us it signifies the end of the spring sports season along with the high school careers of the graduating seniors. Senior day is a day to recognize the seniors and all of their accomplishments throughout their entire high school careers. I was a part of three ceremonies this week: Wilcox High School softball, Saratoga softball and Terra Nova baseball. All were full of smiles and cheers as the seniors made their way onto the field where they were met by their parents as the announcer read off the athlete's favorite memories and future endeavors.
While I was filming these ceremonies I couldn't help but think back to my senior day, both in high school and college, and remember how proud I felt to be standing there with my two biggest supporters, my parents, as well as my fellow seniors who accompanied me on the four-year journey. It was an emotional roller coaster to say the least. The hardest part of senior day for me, was somehow channeling all of that emotion and staying focused for my final home game. With all of the attention on us and all of the emotions running through me, it was tough to come to the realization that after that final horn would sound, that it would mean my time as a high school/college athlete was over.
I couldn't help but think many of the seniors were experiencing similar emotions. It was so great to see many of those seniors come out and have great games to end their high school careers on a high note, the way it should be.
I would like to wish all of the graduating seniors good luck and I want to thank them for giving Cal Hi Sports Bay Area the chance to capture some of their most unbelievable athletic moments!
