Each week the staff at Cal Hi Sports Bay Area puts in a lot of time going over every game we filmed that week and picking out the top plays and then from those plays choosing the one that is the best of the best.

Winning the Play of the Week has always been an extremely prestigious honor. Not only does the winner receive an invitation to our end of the season awards banquet, but now they also attend an Oakland Athletics game with their entire team. Before the game the winner and head coach are invited onto the field for a "meet and greet" with A's players and coaches.

This past week I went to film the "meet and greet" and it was such an amazing experience. The Presentation High School and James Logan High School softball teams were in attendance. Melina Rodriguez from James Logan and Lorena Ukanwa from Presentation were the two players that were awarded the Play of the Week.

They were both extremely excited and were all smiles as we made our way onto the field. After numerous pictures were taken the two were greeted by the A's third base coach Mike Gallego. He congratulated the girls and asked about their careers as well as what they intended on doing in the future. It was so great to see him really show an interest in the girls.

After the "meet and greet" they met up with the rest of their teams and enjoyed an entertaining game!

It feels so great to be apart of these type of outings and see the high school players that we cover week in and week out being awarded for their efforts on the field! Keep it up guys!
