SAN FRANCISCO -- Hey everyone. Its me again. Cody.Youre watching these games, right? Youre seeing which pitches Im clobbering, no?Down and in from Roy Halladay, Saturday, twice: gone. Down and in from Roy Oswalt, Sunday: gone.Did you tape any of these games?Did the Phillies not? It doesnt seem like it, because Cole Hamels, with two out and Freddy Sanchez on second base in the fourth inning -- it was the first time weve had Pretty Boy in trouble all day -- the guy tried to get one past me ... down and in.
It was a little too far down for me to get gone with it, but I got good wood on it, at least. Pounded it to left field to open the scoring. When will these guys learn? Not that Im complaining. I mean, the Phillies are driving up my 2011 salary by the day. I should be thanking them. But come on. Theres an outside part of the plate, too, and I spent a good part of yesterday working on going the other way. I figured no way these guys are dumb enough to keep throwing to my strength.Oh well. Just in case, I turned on a few balls off the tee during our workout yesterday, and today it paid off.But just watch. Next time up, GQ heres gonna try to flip me an outside change. Im sending it to Triples Alley. After all, I am Cody Ross. I do what I want in this game.UPDATED: 1:20 P.M.The Giants do ceremony right. Two words: Barry Bonds. Two more: Sneak attack.Bonds showed up today to throw out one of the ceremonial first pitches, and if you dont know how hard it is to keep something like that a secret in advance of it happening, pretend youre at Knotts Berry Farm trying to hide Justin Bieber from 50,000 teenage girls. Its that hard. But the Giants pulled it off, and -- as always -- they nailed everything associated with the pregame festivities, right down to the military flyover. The Bonds appearance was merely the highlight. No clue whats about to happen in this game, but before its even started, the Giants are winning.
