Yoenis Cespedes is moving closer to securing a starting spot on the American League All-Star roster.

In the latest round of balloting released by MLB, the A's left fielder surpassed Toronto's Melky Cabrera for third place, and is now behind Jose Bautista (4,460,245) and Mike Trout (4,085,647).

Cespedes has received 1,941,553 so far, while Cabrera now has 1,929,506.

A's third baseman Josh Donaldson (2,943,332 maintains a sizable lead over Adrian Beltre (1,730,748).

Derek Norris (1,924,049) remains in second place behind Orioles' injured catcher Matt Wieters (2,103,385).

The A's have not had multiple fan-elected All-Star starters since 1992 with Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire.
