A’s shortstop Jed Lowrie left Sunday’s game in the second inning with what was announced as a neck strain. He is day-to-day.

It wasn’t clear how Lowrie hurt himself. He grounded into a 3-6-3 double play in the top of the first in his only at-bat. Nick Punto replaced him at short for the bottom of the second.

Lowrie was back in the second spot in the batting order Sunday after batting sixth each of the last two games. He entered the day hitting just .219 in May.
