Former A's pitcher Bob Welch tragically passed away Monday night at the age of 57.
The cause of death was not available.
"This is a sad day for the entire A's organization,” said A’s general manager Billy Beane, a teammate of Welch’s in 1989. “Those of us who knew Bob as a teammate and a friend will miss him greatly. My condolences go out to his family.”
Several current and former A's weighed in on the sad news Tuesday afternoon:

RIP Bob Welch. To say he had an infectious personality doesn't do him any justice. Way too soon. Sad, sad day. pic.twitter.com/ISQr1oT9CY— Jeremy Barfield (@BarfieldRage) June 10, 2014
