BOX SCORE
SAN DIEGOGregor Blanco entered this series at Petco Parkwith three home runs in nearly 1,000 career plate appearances.

He hit two in two games.

Remember when this joint opened? They said it wasBonds-proof. They didnt say anything about it being Blanco-proof.

Thats what they say to me, Blanco said, after the Giantsslugged three homers in Thursdays 8-3 victory over the San Diego Padres. "Theysay, 'I guess this ballpark is not big enough for you.'"

Blanco knows himself well enough. He wont start swingingfor the fences. Thats a trap that Andres Torres fell into at times when hedgo deep. As much as everyone admired Torres and continues to root for him withthe Mets, theres no doubt that Blanco might understand his game a littlebetter. He knows what he needs to do to help the Giants go from the leadoffspot.

He said it as well as anyone could:

I always wanted to have what I have right now.

Blanco is getting an opportunity to play every day, andalthough hes worn down at times, a rest here and there seems to make a bigdifference. He wants to prove he can stay healthy and effective over a fullseason.

I just believe in me and I want them to think I can play atthis level for a long time, Blanco said. Ive just gotta continue to do itand he aggressive to contribute to this team.

Melky Cabrera exited the game because his left hamstringdidnt feel so good after he stole a base in the seventh inning. Cabrera saidhe expected to be ready to start Friday.

In case you missed it elsewhere in our coverage, the Rangersplaced lefty Derek Holland and his pencil mustache on the disabled list.Theyll replace him with right-hander Alexi Ogando on Sunday.

Ryan Theriot might have the most interesting wardrobe of anyplayer Ive covered this side of Omar Vizquel. He wore a red and blue Westernshirt the other day that looked like something stolen from June Carter Cashscloset. And on getaway day, he had on Wimp Sandersons blue plaid blazer and awhite Fedora.

He said the hat didnt match his outfit, but he forgot tobring a hat box and didnt want to crush it. That didnt explain his decisionto wear a plaid shirt under a plaid blazer, though.

Best dressed guy on the team? Melky Cabrera, and its noteven close. Im not sure his tailored suits cost a million bucks, but they looklike they do.
