Jordan Norberto began his rehabilitation assignment on Tuesday in Triple-A Sacramento. He threw 16 pitches, retiring the side in order. On Wednesday he was removed from the River Cats roster, and appears to be heading back to Oakland. The left-handed reliever is eligible to return from the disabled list after suffering from a strain in his throwing shoulder. He was placed on the DL June 4, retroactive to May 31. Norberto's return will solidify an already strong A's bullpen that ranks third in the American League with a 2.76 ERA. In 21 appearances this season, Norberto is 0-1 with a 3.91 ERA and one save. There is no word yet on the corresponding roster move, but the A's will be adding Norberto, and an additional starting pitcher when the team places Bartolo Colon on the disabled list.
