CINCINNATI -- Free safety Dashon Goldson will make his first start of the season Sunday for the 49ers after starting every game in the 2009 and '10 seasons.Goldson was inactive for the 49ers' first two games due to a knee injury. He replaces Madieu Williams in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, the team announced.Receiver Braylon Edwards (right knee) and fullback Moran Norris (left fibula) are among the 49ers' inactive players. Each is expected to miss several games with their injuries.Rookie Bruce Miller will start at fullback for Norris. And Ted Ginn is expected to start at receiver, along with Joshua Morgan. Michael Crabtree could initially see action as the 49ers' No. 3 receiver.The 49ers' other inactive players are quarterback Scott Tolzien, defensive linemen Demarcus Dobbs and Ian Williams, and offensive linemen Daniel Kilgore and Mike Person.Former 49ers second-round pick Taylor Mays is among the Cincinnati Bengals' inactive players. Mays missed the first two games with a knee sprain after the Bengals acquired him from the 49ers for a seventh-round pick in 2013.The Bengals' other inactive players receiver Andrew Hawkins, safety Robert Sands, linebacker Dontay Moch, guard Otis Hudson, tight end Colin Cochart and defensive end Robert Geathers.Cincinnati Bengals receiver Jerome Simpson is going through warmups. He is expected to play after a package containing 2 12 pounds of marijuana was tracked to his home Tuesday in northern Kentucky. There has been no arrest or charges in the case."Jerome Simpson resumed team activities Friday afternoon, and after evaluating his readiness, the coaching staff has determined he will be active for today's game," the Bengals said in a statement. "Jerome's legal situation with regard to events of the past week remains completely unresolved, and the Bengals believe it is not appropriate to act on any presumption of what may transpire."Andre Caldwell will start at receiver for the Bengals. Also, Jonathan Fanene will start at left defensive end for Geathers.
