The 49ers waived rookie cornerback Lowell Rose on Friday, the day rookies were required to report to training camp.

Rose, who played collegiately at UCLA and Tulsa, was awarded an $8,000 signing bonus to sign with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent. He and fellow cornerback Darryl Morris received the highest signing bonuses the 49ers awarded to their class of undrafted rookies.

The roster spot the 49ers cleared by waiving Rose was filled by the acquisition of veteran cornerback Eric Wright in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a conditional late-round draft pick.
