Practice report: Jacobs, Ginn remain sidelined

SANTA CLARA -- All-Pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson was not on the Detroit Lions' practice field on Wednesday.But Johnson was represented at 49ers practice, as first-round draft pick A.J. Jenkins donned No. 81 and was set to play him at practice on Wednesday. Jenkins suited up for the 49ers' season-opener on Sunday at Green Bay but did not play.
The 49ers play host to the Lions on Sunday at Candlestick Park.Running back Brandon Jacobs (left knee) and receiverreturn man Ted Ginn (right ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. Both sat out the Week 1 game at Lambeau Field. Jacobs sustained his knee injury Aug. 18, while Ginn was injured Aug. 26.
Meanwhile, the Lions had five players who did not practice, including Johnson, whom the club reported has a foot injury. Johnson, one of the NFL's premier players, had 96 receptions for 1,681 yards and 16 touchdowns last season.
Others who did not practice for the Lions were: safety Louis Delmas (knee), cornerback Bill Bentley (concussion), defensive end Lawrence Jackson (calf) and linebacker Travis Lewis (quad). Cornerback Chris Houston (ankle) and defensive tackle Corey Williams (knee) were limited.
