Programming note: Log on to CSNBayArea.com later this evening to hear from new 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
The 49ers this week made more of a financial commitment to cornerback Carlos Rogers than free agent pickup Nnamdi Asomugha.
Because Rogers was on the team's roster on April 1, $1.25 million of his scheduled $5.85 million pay for the 2013 season became fully guaranteed, a source with knowledge of Rogers' contract told CSNBayArea.com on Wednesday.
Asomugha, meanwhile, agreed Tuesday to a one-year contract for a reported $1.35 million with no money guaranteed. Asomugha is expected to officially sign his contract on Wednesday at the team's offices in Santa Clara.
The 49ers are not expected to make any corresponding roster move after Asomugha's signing because the club is still expected to have around $2 million in cap space.
Cornerback Tarell Brown, who has started every game the past two seasons along with Rogers, is scheduled to make $3.5 million in salary. He is entering the final year of his contract. Third cornerback Chris Culliver, who is in the third season of his rookie contract, is scheduled to receive $555,000 in salary. The 49ers tendered restricted free agent Tramaine Brock at $1.323 million for the upcoming season.
