INDIANAPOLIS -- The 49ers have signed special-teams ace C.J. Spillman to a three-year, 6 million contract extension that includes 1.8 million in guaranteed money.Spillman's agent, Ronald Slavin, and 49ers chief negotiator Paraag Marathe finalized the deal Friday at the NFL scouting combine.
Spillman, a three-year veteran who was scheduled to be a restricted free agent, becomes the first of the 49ers' scheduled free agents to sign an extension ahead of the opening of free agency on March 13.RELATED: Complete list of 49ers free agents
Spillman was one of the 49ers' top special-teams players with a team-high 19 tackles. He also saw limited action on defense as a backup safety.
