Halftime adjustments, what halftime adjustments?

ALAMEDA -- So what, exactly, is going on in the Raiders' halftime locker room, besides loading up on orange slices? In four games, the Raiders have been outscored in the third quarter by a cumulative 55-7. So obviously, either a message is not getting across or the message itself is skewed."We're making adjustments," said coach Dennis Allen. "We've got to come out with a greater sense of urgency, coming out of halftime. And againthe second half is one of the byproducts of the first half."And the first half, we haven't had enough plays on offense so we don't develop that continuity and that flow and then on defense we play too many plays because we haven't done a good enough job getting off the field on third down."Defensive tackle Richard Seymour agreed."In the first half of games, weve definitely been right where we needed to be," he said. "Its still a ball game. The second half we havent come out and executed as well. We got a week to think about it, but any time you play a game like that, you definitely want to get back on the field and get it going again. We have some work that needs to be done. I think if youre a competitor, you accept that challenge. I feel like were headed in the right direction."GUTIERREZ: So this is a real defense?
So then what, exactly, can be fixed defensively to avoid the third-quarter meltdowns that have plagued the Raiders thus far?"Just attention to detail," Seymour said. "Its the small things, and the small things just really add up over the course of a game. If you see one play here, it may not mean much, but you add them up, come the third and fourth quarter, three- and four-yard gains start to break."And one thing we got to realize, anytime you lose a game, its like the morgue around here. But you have to realize that you live to fight another day, and were playing a game and the game has to be fun, and you have to play it with passion. You have to be excited about what youre doing. You have to look at yourself in the mirror first and foremost. We all have to do a better job in terms of executing our assignments. One game, this game wont define us as a team. We got an opportunity to take a week off and evaluate what we need to do and do it better and come back against a red-hot Atlanta team."After a bye week of soul-searching, of course.
