49ers unlikely to grant behind-the-scenes TV access

A year ago, the headline read, "49ers on 'Hard Knocks'? Hardly a chance."On Wednesday, Adam Schein of Foxsports.com reports that the 49ers are on HBO's radar for this summer's popular behind-the-scenes series.HBO wants to again feature the New York Jets. But Schein reports that if bombastic coach Rex Ryan gets his way and the Jets are not the focus of the show, "HBO has interest in featuring both the Niners and Ravens, focusing on the Harbaugh brothers."At this point, let's refer back to the headline of a year ago.Coach Jim Harbaugh is largely unpredictable. But he's pretty consistent in how he divulges information about the 49ers to the media. He doesn't.And Harbaugh's approach is consistent with how general manager Trent Baalke goes about his business, too.A year ago, I wrote: "It's unlikely general manager Trent Baalke and coach Jim Harbaugh would ever be receptive to allowing cameras to follow them and their players throughout the month of August. Nor would they be keen on having cameras and microphones mounted in their offices for the duration of training camp."It would be fascinating television, to be sure. But it seems highly unlikely that it would ever happen as long as Baalke and Harbaugh are calling the shots.
