But on Monday, slugger Giancarlo Stanton took over that mantle with a first-inning two-run homer off Ty Blach, his 43rd longball of the season.
After the game, Stanton's teammates doused him with beer in the shower.

For some reason, Stanton was in a laundry cart.
"When you're one homer or one hit away from a record, you don't want to let it linger because then every at-bat is, `Is he going to do it? Is he going to do it?'" Stanton told reporters after the game. "So luckily I got it out of the way right away, put us on top, and able to finish."
"He's on a sick terror," Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon said. "He's amazing."
