The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced on Friday that San Francisco Giants minor league infielder Marco Guzman has received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for metabolites of Nandrolone, a performance-enhancing substance in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.
The suspension of Guzman, who is currently on the roster of the Dominican Summer League Giants, will be effective at the start of the regular season.
Guzman, 19, is a .215 hitter over two seasons with the rookie-level team. He has one home run and 26 RBI in 93 games, boasting an on-base percentage of .343.
