Divac: ‘We're not trading DeMarcus'

SACRAMENTO -- Despite rumors to the contrary, DeMarcus Cousins isn’t going anywhere. Multiple sources have confirmed to CSN California that Vlade Divac and the Kings brass met with Cousins and his representation last Thursday to once again confirm this stance to the 3-time All-Star big man.

As CSN California reported last month, the group is in the midst of negotiations a massive five-year, $219 million max money designated player extension. While there are still some nuances to the deal that need to be worked out, Cousins is expected to ink the contract in the first few days of July when the new NBA collective bargaining agreement goes into effect.

"We're not trading DeMarcus," Divac told ESPN’s Marc Stein on Monday. "We hope he's here for a long time."

Rumors of a potential trade involving Cousins going to the Phoenix Suns surfaced last week. Before turning to the media to deny the rumors, Divac went straight to Cousins to make sure that he knew there was nothing cooking.

Cousins, 26, leads the Kings in most offensive categories. In his seventh NBA season, the University of Kentucky product is posting 28.1 points, 10.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
