Chris Mullin didn't get the Kings general manager job, but he could still have a role in the future of the team.
The Kings have extended an offer to serve as a consultant to the Hall of Famer, according to The Sacramento Bee.
The Bee believes Mullin will accept the offer.
On Saturday, the Kings filled their vacant GM position by hiring Denver Nuggets VP of Basketball Operations Pete D'Alessandro. They will introduce D'Alessandro at a press conference on Monday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. PST.
D'Alessandro's first order of business could be the Mullin hiring.
Mullin served as Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations for the Warriors from 2004 to 2009, while D'Alessandro worked in the Warriors front office from 2004 to 2008. From 2006 to 2008, he was the assistant general manager, so the two have a history together.
