MORAGA -- Dane Pineau scored 18 on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Joe Rahon had 15 points and six assists to help Saint Mary's hold off Grand Canyon for a 73-64 win Tuesday night in a rare, March non-conference game.

Calvin Hermanson had 16 points and Emmett Naar scored 12 for Saint Mary's.

The Gaels (25-4) never trailed and led 45-32 with 14:07 to play.

Back-to-back layups by DeWayne Russell capped a 9-1 run that pulled Grand Canyon (24-6) within two about 4 1/2 minutes later, but the Antelopes would get no closer as Saint Mary's made six of its final 13 field-goal attempts and 9 of 11 foul shots down the stretch.

The Gaels, who have won five in a row, shot 53 percent (26 of 49) from the field.

Grandy Glaze had 16 points and nine rebounds for Grand Canyon, which made three of its season-low four free-throw attempts.
