We were flat most of thegame, and not to make excuses, but we werent on top of our game tonight.I thought Dallasplayed well and deserved to win. At halftime, we came out, and I said the positivething is, is that its nil, nil. I dont know how it was, but itwas. We had a little go at them for 10-15 minutes, and then they scored theirgoal and it was tough for us after that. Then the second one went in quickly,so it made things difficult. On surrendering two goals in less than twominutes:
However you want to look atit, its two goals that we should be doing better on, but thatsfootball. We have to do better individually and collectively as a team. We haveshown this year that at times we are very difficult to break down, but tonightwasnt one of those nights. We looked fragile and a little nervous, whichis not like us.SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES GOALKEEPER JOE CANNONOn the result:
It was very disheartening, Ithink anyone watching that game will tell you that the better probably wontonight. In football you cant make excuses, but it was tough. Athalftime it was still 0-0, and I thought we were going to be able to get aresult. Looking forward:
Despite the result tonight, give these guys a lot of credit, its been a tough week for us and allthe guys left it all out on the field. Like I said though, there are noexcuses, and it is what it is. This game is over, and we didnt take anypoints. When the season is over, it doesnt matter what the weather wasin Dallas inWeek 13, or wherever we are at. We will regroup, go back and I think it will bea great time to move forward. I think we have had a good first 11 games, but wedefinitely need to make some improvements and we will.SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES MIDFIELDER ARTURO ALVAREZOn playing up top:
Before my injury, thats where I played against Chicago andthats where I came in against Salt Lake. I was doing reallywell, was able to come in for the team, be that guy that got the ball, that wasable to turn and maybe find people, maybe I was able to set myself up for ashot. Unfortunately in this game, that didnt happen. As a team, wedidnt keep the ball well in this game, and that hurt us a lot. I think Dallas did a very good jobon that and obviously it ended up hurting us in the end. On being 5-4-2going into break:
Obviously, our goal was not to go into the break with two losses and a tie. But if youlook at the bigger picture, I think were a total different team thisyear than we were the last two years, and were sitting in a pretty goodspot in the Western Conference. Theres still a lot of games left. Ithink we showed that were the kind of team that doesnt quitanymore. We play from minute one to minute 90. Obviously we didnt finishthe way we wanted to going into this break, but the only thing we can do isjust learn from our mistakes, work on them and then come up three weeks fromnow against Salt Lake.
