NAPA -- The Raiders starting defensive line practiced together for the first time on Tuesday.

Injuries of varying severity kept the front four apart during this training camp, and hampered the team’s pass rush and interior run defense during the preseason.

Defensive tackle Pat Sims was the last to return, after missing all but an hour of camp with a hamstring injury. Tackle Vance Walker returned on Monday from an undisclosed injury that sidelined him for most of camp. End Lamarr Houston also had an undisclosed injury that held him back nearly two weeks. By contrast, starting end Jason Hunter and pass-rushing specialist Andre Carter have remained healthy.

Those three haven’t played in the preseason, and it’s uncertain whether any of them will suit up Friday against the Chicago Bears.

Coach Dennis Allen will speak with the press after practice.
