Former Sharks coach Ron Wilson recovering after suffering stroke

Former San Jose Sharks coach Ron Wilson is recovering after suffering a stroke.

The news was first reported by the Los Angeles Times and confirmed by Sportsnet.ca.

According to the LA Times, Wilson is currently in rehab.

The 61-year-old coached the Sharks from 2002 to 2008, amassing a 206-122-19-38 record. He led the Sharks to the playoff in his final four seasons, and they made it as far as the Conference Finals in the 2003-04 season.

After news surfaced of Wilson's condition, the Sharks posted a tweet sending their best wishes.

"Best wishes for a speedy recovery to former #SJSharks head coach Ron Wilson."

Wilson also spent time coaching the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs. He has a .531 winning percentage in 18 seasons.
