NEWARK –- A little more than one week into his Sharks career, Martin Jones is already setting records.
The 25-year-old goalie, who has started all four Sharks games, has set a new franchise record shutout streak. Just 45 seconds into the first period against New Jersey on Friday, Jones broke counterpart Alex Stalock’s mark of 178:55 set between Jan. 5 – 27, 2014.
(Update: Jones' shutout streak ended at 234:33, after allowing a third period goal to the Devils' Adam Henrique on Friday.)

The Sharks set a new team shutout mark a little less than 13 minutes into the first period, too. The previous record of 190:51 was set between Jan. 23 – Feb. 2, 2012, with Antti Niemi and Thomas Greiss each seeing time in net over that span.
Jones, acquired via trade with Boston in the offseason, allowed a goal to Los Angeles’ Nick Shore on the first shot he faced on Oct. 7. After that, he made 104 straight saves before Henrique's goal.

* Jones became just the fourth goaltender in the NHL's modern era (since 1943-44) to win each of his first three starts and have a GAA as low as 0.33. All four, including Jones, were 3-0-0 with a 0.33 GAA: the Islanders' Chico Resch in 1976-77, Roland Melanson of the Canadiens in 1991-92 and Brian Boucher of the Sharks in 2008-09.

*Jones (37 games played before Friday) is the fastest player to record nine career NHL shutouts since Frank Brimsek in 1938-39 with Bruins (28 games).
*Jones is the first goalie in Sharks history to record a shutout in his regular season home debut with the team.
*Jones is the first goalie in Sharks history to record two shutouts in his first three starts with the team.
