Update (12 p.m. Tuesday): Logan Couture's five-year extension with the San Jose Sharks is worth $30 million and will carry an annual $6 million cap hit, according to TSN.


Logan Couture has signed a contract extension that will keep him in San Jose beyond the 2013-2014 season, the 24-year old confirmed via text to CSN California.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but according to Sharks Insider Kevin Kurz, the extension is expected to be five years, taking him through the 2018-19 season.

The 24-year-old All-Star has one year remaining on his current deal at a salary of $3 million. It’s the final year of a two-year, $5.75 million extension Couture signed in August, 2011.
