In a salary-cap league with non-guaranteed contracts like the NFL, the offseason is a time teams rid themselves of players not living up to their pay scale.

49ers tight end Vernon Davis has put his San Jose home on the market, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The home is currently listed for about $2.45 million.
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith is on the move.
Or, at least, he hopes to be. Smith has listed his home in the East San Jose hills for sale for $2.988 million.
