Golden State could have re-signed Rush for the veteran minimum -- $1.4 million in 2016-17 -- or for around $6.2 million.
Over 72 games (25 starts) with Golden State last year, the soon-to-be 31-year old averaged 4.2 points and 2.5 rebounds.
He appeared in 14 of the Warriors' 24 playoff games.
