The 49ers on Saturday completed the 2016 NFL Draft.

The event brought new players to the organization of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds. Some were even multi-sport athletes.

Once the draft was wrapped, San Francisco receiver Bruce Ellington, a former two-sport athlete at South Carolina, saw an opportunity to finish the lineup to his 49ers basketball team.

It is as follows:

1.     Bruce Ellington

2.     NaVorro Bowman

3.     Torrey Smith

4.     Arik Armstead

5.     DeForest Buckner

Ellington in 2010 was the starting point guard for the Gamecocks, even earning a spot on the All-SEC freshman team. He averaged a team-high 12.8 points per game that year. From 2011-2013, he played both football and basketball at South Carolina before being drafted by the 49ers in 2014.

Bowman played on the same high school team as Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, a four-time scoring champ and seven-time NBA All-Star. “(Bowman) was the best player on the team,” Durant told CSNBayArea.com in February 2013. “I was kinda like his sidekick.

“I really thought he was going to the NBA.”

Smith ran a 4.36 40-yard dash prior to entering the NFL, and was a guard at Stafford Senior High School in Virginia before fully committing to playing football at the University of Maryland. The 49ers wide receiver holds an annual charity basketball game.

Armstead is 6-foot-7 with an extensive basketball background. He was a three-year starter at Pleasant Grove High School in Sacramento. As a collegian, Armstead was on the Oregon Ducks basketball roster for two years, seeing action in one game in the 2013-14 season.

Buckner, the team’s most recent addition, also lists at 6-foot-7, and even played the opposite side of the line as Armstead in Eugene. He was a basketball player at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. Buckner was a four-year letter-winner there and named to the all-state first team, averaging 11.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game as senior.
