CCSF Rams battle for NorCal CCCAA supremacy Saturday

Northern California supremacy and a trip to the CCCAA State Title Football Game are all on the line this weekend.

This Saturday CCSF Football (10-1, Regional Rank No. 1) hosts Chabot College (9-2, Regional Rank No. 2) for a gridiron matchup that will determine the Northern California Champion and NorCal representative in the CCCAA State Title Game.

CCSF is coming fresh off an impressive 30-13 playoff victory over Butte College this past Saturday. Freshman quarterback Anthony Gordon, the Bay 6 Conference offensive player of the year, led the offense with his efficient play behind center by connecting on 25-of-32 passes (78 percent completion rate) and totaling 375 passing yards and three touchdown passes.

Not to be outdone by the offense, the Rams defense allowed only 208 yards of total offense and shutdown Butte for most of Saturday’s game. The dominant pass defense held the Butte passing attack to a miniscule 54 passing yards and intercepted four attempts.

The Rams will look to repeat last Saturday’s defensive performance when they take on Chabot. The Gladiators come into the NorCal Title Game after defeating College of San Mateo 76-55. Chabot totaled a mind-boggling 717 yards of total offense against CSM – 418 of those yards came from the Gladiators running game, which was led by running back Ondre Rudolph’s 260 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Saturday’s matchup will be a showdown between the stifling Rams defense versus Chabot’s high-powered offense. The No. 2 ranked Rams defense, which allowed only 16.5 points per game and 276.5 yards a game, will face a No. 2 ranked Chabot offense that averages 49.2 points and 491.3 yards of total offense.

The winner of the NorCal Title Game will move on to the CCCAA State Title Game and will face the winner of the SCFA Championship Game between Saddleback College and Long Beach City College.
