Dodgers fan congressman loses bet, sings on House floor

Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) is a Dodgers fan. Congressman Steve Israel (D-NY) is a Mets fan. The two placed a bet over the NLDS series between the two teams.

Schiff made good on his bet on Friday after the Dodgers were eliminated in five games.

The bet, according to the Los Angeles Times, was for regional delicacies and a public address.

The loser was to "wear the tie of the winner’s team and deliver a one minute speech on the House floor 'extolling the virtues' of the winning team," according to the Times.

And Schiff had to send gourmet popcorn from Pauline’s Premier Sweets in Burbank. (Israel would have had to fly fresh bagels straight from the Big Apple to LA if the Dodgers won.)

"Please make sure the lox is fresh, Steve," Schiff said in a statement.

The Mets moved on to sweep the Cubs in the NLCS and open the World Series on Tuesday against either the Toronto Blue Jays or Kansas City Royals.
