Dunk of the year? Davion hammers outrageous jam over Rockets

Kings rookie Davion Mitchell has taken center stage with De'Aaron Fox out due to a hand injury and he is making the most of the opportunity.

Mitchell has stepped up his game over the last few weeks and in the Kings' game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday at Toyota Center, he showed off his hops with an outrageous poster dunk over two defenders.

With just a few games left in the 2021-22 NBA season, Mitchell provided a late submission for the Dunk of the Year contest.

Entering Wednesday's game, Mitchell is averaging 11.0 points, 3.6 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 69 games. Since March 12, Mitchell is averaging 19.6 points and 5.5 assists in eight games, with five of those coming as starts. He has scored at least 20 points in the last four games.

While the Kings would like to have Fox on the court, they have to be happy with what they've seen from Mitchell as the main option. His production bodes well for next season.
