BOULDER, Colo. -- Kevin Hogan threw two touchdown passes and ran for another Saturday in leading ninth-ranked Stanford past Colorado 42-10 and into the Cardinal history books.
With his 32nd win, Hogan surpassed Andrew Luck as the school's winningest quarterback, and he got a big assist from Christian McCaffrey, who put on a quite a show for friends and family.

McCaffrey, who grew up in nearby Denver, where his father, Ed, starred for the Broncos in the 1990s, collected 220 all-purpose yards plus a 28-yard touchdown toss to tight end Austin Hooper in a little more than three quarters.
McCaffrey collected 147 yards rushing, 15 receiving and 58 on returns.
The Cardinal (8-1, 7-0 Pac-12, No. 11 CFP) bounced back from a scare at Washington in which they escaped with a two-point win on a shanked field goal as time expired. Their final three games are all at home, against Oregon, Cal and Notre Dame.
The Buffs (4-6, 1-5) wore throwback uniforms - gold helmets, black jerseys, gold pants - in honor of former coach Bill McCartney, who led Colorado to the national title in 1990, after watching ESPN's 30-for-30 "The Gospel According to Mac" earlier in the week.
They looked like that national championship team but sure didn't play like it.

McCaffery's 40-yard run set up the Cardinal's next s score, Hogan's toss to a wide-open Dalton Schultz on fourth-and-2 from the 6.
Sefo Liufau badly overthrew his receiver and was intercepted with 1:09 left before halftime, just enough time for Hogan to drive the Cardinal for another touchdown. This time, he took it in himself from a yard out with two seconds to spare for a three-TD halftime cushion.
Colorado, which has lost 21 consecutive games to ranked teams, had a debacle of a second-half start.
The Buffs weren't aggressive after getting a first down at the Stanford 16, running three times and then settling for a field goal.
Then, they tried onside kick and failed.
Stanford wide receiver Rollins Stallworth recovered at the Buffs 47. Freshman running back Bryce Love scored on the next play, racing into the end zone to make it 35-10.
Tedric Thompson's 71-yard interception return gave the Buffaloes the ball at the Stanford 3, and they went for it on fourth down this time and Liufau threw incomplete.
The Cardinal then went on a 13-play, 95-yard drive that McCaffrey capped with his TD toss. He took the pitch from Hogan, pulled up and found his tight end speeding down the right sideline for the score, then retreated to the sideline, his day done eight seconds into the fourth quarter.
