Lane Kiffin fetes anniversary of Sebastian Janikowski's 76-yard field-goal try

The NFL record for the longest field goal in league history was a 64-yarder kicked by then-Broncos kicker Matt Prater in Denver back in 2013. It put him just one yard ahead of the previous record of 63 yards, which was held by several kickers including longtime former Raiders specialist Sebastian Janikowski.

Saturday marked the 11-year anniversary of an attempt by Janikowski to crush the record that came up woefully short.

The Raiders head coach at the time, Lane Kiffin, decided to commemorate the occasion with a shoutout to “Seabass.”

Kiffin’s brief tenure with the Raiders was littered with controversy, as he constantly rubbed management the wrong way and was fired for cause just two days after that 28-18 loss to the then-San Diego Chargers.

The embattled Kiffin has been the head coach at Florida Atlantic University since 2017, and has compiled a 19-12 record.
