OAKLAND -- If the Warriors ultimately reverse their prevailing stance and decide to visit the White House as a team, they’ll first have to persuade Stephen Curry to go along.
The reigning two-time MVP reiterated Wednesday that he stands by his previous comments in response to the hypothetical question about whether he would visit the Trump White House if the Warriors were to win a championship.
“I think I answered, ‘I wouldn’t go.’ I still feel like that today,” he said at the team facility.

“But as a team we’re going to have a conversation. This is a moment that we all need to enjoy together, and nothing should detract from what we were able to accomplish together and the different kind of ceremonies and traditions that have happened around championship-winning teams. We don’t want that to taint what we’ve accomplished this year, so we’ll handle that accordingly and responsibly and do the right thing for us individually and as a group.”
Curry has been among several Warriors who, along with head coach Steve Kerr, have blasted the conduct of the current president. Veterans David West, Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala have been transparent about their displeasure with Donald Trump.
Still, there is a window, however small, according to the man at the top of the team’s seniority list.
“We hadn’t talked about it much, probably some side conversations here and there,” Curry said. “But you don’t plan anything until you win a championship. That’s obviously putting bad juju out there if you’re getting ahead of yourself.

“ . . . All I know is I personally will do the right thing for me. And I know the team will have a conversation about what’s going on, going forward. There’s probably more to come on that.”
